Tribological enhancement using Mn3O4-Graphene nanocomposites as additives for potential transmission fluids of electric vehicles

This research reports the antifriction and antiwear properties of Mn3O4-Graphene nanocomposites (Mn3O4-G) as additives a paraffinic base oil commonly used in formulation electric vehicles transmission oils, G-III oil. Four nanodispersions have been designed, + 0.025 wt% Mn3O4-G, 0.050 0.075 Mn3O4-G 0.100 to know optimal concentration nanoadditive. Tribological experiments were carried out with these nanolubricants neat at pure sliding conditions under working load 9.43 N. All tested led similar friction coefficients comparison that obtained using specimens formulated revealed less wear than oil, obtaining greatest reduction nanolubricant, reductions 25, 50 64% scar diameter, maximum depth transversal area, respectively. Moreover, by means confocal Raman microscopy roughness evaluation worn tribological specimens, it was concluded synergetic effect, tribofilm formation rolling mechanisms happen.
